Jo-Ann Fabric attracts crowd to ribbon cutting at Canyon Place Shopping Center

Enthusiastic customers lined up in the cold to applaud a ribbon cutting and grand opening Friday at the new Beaverton Jo-Ann Fabric. Mayor Denny Doyle was on hand, as were representatives from Harsch Investment Properties, owner of Canyon Place Shopping Center, Dan Desmarais, regional vice president of Jo-Ann, and (coincidentally) Joann Hulquist, Principal of William Walker Elementary School. Jo-Ann provided a $2000 grant to the school for an educational project of its choosing.

The opening continued through Saturday and featured the following activities:

  • Enter to Win – One $500 Jo-Ann Gift Card was awarded each day
  • Mystery Giveaway – The first 100 guests each day received a Jo-Ann Gift Card ranging in value from $10-$250
  • Hot Savings – Special grand opening sales and offers throughout the store
  • Free Reusable Tote Bag – Customers who spent $20 or more each day received a free tote bag
  • Teacher Appreciation Day – All day Saturday; teachers received 20% off their total purchase with current teacher ID
  • Free Jo-Ann Creative Demonstrations – Each day starting at 11 a.m.
  • Learn with Jo-Ann – Open House for Classes on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.; Buy one class, get one Free
  • Make It-Take It – Kids made their own craft to take home, Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
