Harsch President Jordan D. Schnitzer was among the individuals, companies, and organizations honored at the Daily Journal of Commerce 2014 Newsmakers Awards Luncheon on Thursday, February 27th. In the Journal's Newsmakers insert, Mr. Schnitzer speaks about his perspective on the Portland real estate market, as well as Harsch's current redevelopment project at Centennial Mills. Writer Melody Finnemore notes his broad view of economic indicators based on Harsch's presence in six western states: "Harsch has experienced the recession in multiple markets and product categories and, therefore, has a comprehensive view of the various markets’ performance in the West."

Mr. Schnitzer observes, "We’re seeing significant activity in all of our markets. Overall, it is like real estate is coming out of the thaw of the recession we’ve had for five or six years, so there is certainly a burst of optimism compared to how dismal the industry has been during the depths of the recession.  In the Portland area, we’ve certainly seen a huge number of multifamily projects being planned or under construction."
