Nordstrom Rack Opening Featured in the Desert Sun

Reporter Blake Herzog at the Desert Sun covered the long-anticipated opening of Nordstrom Rack at Harsch's One Eleven Town Center in Palm Desert on Thursday, March 6th. The store is Nordstrom's first in the Coachella Valley, generating enormous buzz with members of the community. While the store officially opened its doors at 9am, customers began lining up hours in advance to be among the first to shop the store's discounted designer goods. After a one-hour celebration with music, food, and prizes, the Rack opened its doors for the 425 people that had queued up.

Herzog notes that the 34,000-square-foot Nordstrom Rack is the first new anchor to emerge from the revitalization of One Eleven Town Center. An 18,000-square-foot HomeGoods is scheduled to open March 30th, and Whole Foods will follow in the fall with a 31,000-square-foot market. Palm Desert City Councilwoman Jan Harnik believes Nordstrom Rack is “the right store at the right place at the right time,” and Harsch President Jordan D. Schnitzer mentioned his gratefulness toward the “unsung heroes of the project,” the smaller local business owners who have remained as tenants during the construction process at One Eleven Town Center.
