Whole Foods Market, set to open September 24th at Harsch's One Eleven Town Center in Palm Desert, held a Local Supplier Fair last week to source goods from Coachella Valley vendors. About 50 vendors attended the fair, hoping to win shelf space from the grocery store. The event was open to the public, giving future Whole Foods customers a chance to sample locally made products. As with all items that Whole Foods stocks, they were required to be free of artificial preservatives, colors, and sweeteners.

According to the article in the Desert Sun, Whole Foods representatives were very impressed by the quality and variety of products at the event. "This event has exceeded my expectations tenfold," said Casey Coyle, Store Manager at the upcoming One Eleven Town Center location. Vendors were equally appreciative of the event. Fragrance maker Dolores Vinci described the "unique" networking opportunity presented by the fair: "There's nothing like this, not even the Chamber of Commerce. Here you get to talk to people about what they do while they have what they do in front of them."
