Otak, Inc. Moves to Director Building in Downtown Portland
Feb. 12, 2013
PORTLAND, Oregon—February 25, 2013: Otak, Inc., is pleased to announce it is moving from Lake Oswego, Oregon, to the Director Building located at 808 SW 3rd Avenue in downtown Portland.

Portland’s Mayor, Charlie Hales, states: “Gaining a company like Otak is great news for the City of Portland. Firms that are inspirational and aspirational are seeing this city as the place to do business. I think Otak fits that description to an architect’s T-square.”

As a multinational engineering, architecture, planning and urban design firm, Otak cites Portland’s creative energy as the primary reason for its move. Otak’s employees are committed to sustainability, which will attract talented design professionals who want to be part of the Portland Promise for responsible urban growth. Otak is currently working on initiatives to further decrease its carbon footprint, including offering employees incentives to take public transit, bike and/or carpool to work. The new office will be within walking distance from several of Otak’s key clients, and its centralized location will also provide the firm’s professionals with access to public transit, continuing education and volunteering and networking opportunities. The firm is excited to expand its staff with members who enjoy living and working in the city.

“We were inspired by Mayor Hales’ commitment to improve Portland’s urban fabric, sense of community and quality of life so much that I knew Otak needed to be a part of the Portland Promise and contribute to its fulfillment,” commented R. Nicholas Loope, FAIA, Otak’s President and CEO. Otak anticipates a full-office move by May 2013.

Jordan Schnitzer, President and CEO Harsch Investment Properties, who own and operate the Director Building, states: “We at Harsch Investment Properties are pleased that Otak, a multinational design firm, has chosen to relocate from the suburbs to the Director Building in the heart of downtown Portland. We are excited as a landlord and as a company with deep roots in the community to be part of the new creative economy expanding in the City."'
