Lifeproof Signs 25,584-Square Foot Lease in Avenue of Science Center
Sept. 4, 2012
SAN DIEGO, September 4, 2012 – Harsch Investment Properties announces that Treefrog Development, dba LifeProof, has signed a 25,584-square-foot lease in Avenue of Science Center, a three-building industrial flex project located on Avenue of Science in Rancho Bernardo. The lease is an expansion for the San Diego-based company, which launched in 2010 and designs and manufactures innovative, waterproof, dirt proof, snow proof and shockproof cases for smart phones and tablet PCs including iPhones and iPads. The sleekprofile cases barely increase the size of smart devices and allow for them to be safely taken anywhere. LifeProof cases are even waterproof to a depth of 6.6 feet. LifeProof products are marketed worldwide.

According to Bill Rodewald, SIOR, and senior vice president/regional manager with Harsch Investment Properties, the LifeProof transaction is a tremendous example of brokerage teamwork that resulted in an outstanding space solution for the tenant. “Most of the brokers involved in this transaction are SIOR (Society of Industrial and Office Realtors) designees and highly qualified practitioners who worked together to support LifeProof in its search and
ultimate decision to relocate in Avenue of Science Center,” said Rodewald. “This was truly a cooperative effort among top San Diego professionals who bring unparalleled expertise and the ability to translate the unique needs of each tenant to the best space options and landlord match to support their business strategy.”

In the transaction, LifeProof was represented by Jon Danton and Randall LaChance, SIOR, of Voit Real Estate Services. Harsch Investment Properties was represented by Jay Alexander, SIOR, and Ryan Grove, SIOR, both with Jones Lang LaSalle. Rodewald, who brings years of brokerage and real estate acquisition experience to his position with Harsch, also is a SIOR designee and worked closely with all parties throughout the process. “We’re thrilled to be growing and glad we could continue to do it in San Diego,” said Gary Rayner, LifeProof CEO. “We truly care about our community and are excited that our growth allows us to continue to add jobs to the local economy.”

LifeProof moved into its new space earlier this month.Avenue of Science Center is a 109,000-square-foot project that was acquired by Harsch Investment
Properties in 2005. The company renovated the property in 2011, integrating high ceilings and indirect lighting in all open areas. It also added a dedicated backup generator to support the tenant base in the event of a power outage. Currently, Avenue of Science Center is 92.4 percent leased. Other tenants in the project include Ideal Industries, NV5, Trade Service, and Igoe Associates.
