Harsch's East Bay Volunteers Help Feed Families and Seniors in Need
May 30, 2017
Harsch's East Bay enjoyed rewarding volunteer experiences as two groups, assisting at both the Tri-Valley Haven Food Pantry and SOS/Meals on Wheels.

The first group of volunteers went to Tri-Valley Haven Food Pantry, a vital community resource serving adults and children who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, or homelessness.

Each year, Tri-Valley Haven receives between 3,000 and 3,500 crisis calls — that’s almost 10 calls every day, from women in need.  The organization's model is to provide a “full circle of care” that assists clients to the point where they can not only heal from abuse, but also recover and become healthy while headed in a positive direction. Their ultimate mission is to create homes safe from abuse and to contribute to a more peaceful society.
A second volunteer group headed to SOS/Meals on Wheels, which helps frail seniors maintain their independence and remain safely in their own homes by producing and delivering nutritious meals daily to homebound seniors living in the communities of Castro Valley, Hayward, San Leandro, San Lorenzo and the City of Oakland.  Meals on Wheels’ drivers also provide daily check-ins and social contact for the communities’ most vulnerable elders.

Harsch's own Elizabeth Conway had this to say about her volunteering experience:
"Today a group of us from the East Bay office volunteered making meals for senior citizens at Meals on Wheels (a tenant at our Polvorosa Business Park!).  It was our second year volunteering at this location.  It is such a personally rewarding experience to contribute to fulfilling the needs of our senior citizen neighbors, and to also have the chance to help to our tenant at the same time.  We are so thankful to Harsch for allowing us this time away from the office to give back to our community."

Thanks to Harsch volunteers Lisa Nguyen, Jake Parker, Monica Graham, Mike Sartoris, Sara Roche, Jessica Alconaba, Julie Tran and Elizabeth Conway for taking the time to give back to your community!
